1 Star HORRIBLE Espresso!
I had high hopes for this only to be VERY let down. I’ve had the Lavazza “Super Crema” (blue bag) and it was pretty good. This “Crema e Aroma” is some of the worst espresso beans I’ve tasted. The cream is decent but the flavor is thin and sour. I’ve tried different grinds, water temps, tamps, etc… nothing helps. I have been making espresso at home for 10 years using high-end consumer equipment so I know how to make good espresso… these beans are very lightly roasted, versus most beans I’ve used, and very dry out of the bag. Maybe the trip from Italy kills the beans? Either way, if you like good espresso… better than Starbucks quality, stay away from Lavazza Crema e Aroma.

5 Stars I Love Mine
We’ve had percolator coffee makers for the last several years, but after trying to get the last three ~$50 percs to last more than a year, we gave up. We bought this HB coffee maker based on reviews here and elsewhere and have been very pleased with it. The timer works great for us. The pot hasn’t dripped or leaked a drop unlike a B&D model we had. The coffee still tastes great after 6 months use and we love it. We have recommended it to friends.

5 Stars A forty dollar coffee maker
I’d been shopping for a coffee maker for a while and when you read a bunch of reviews they all seem to blend together. You can get a fancy expensive coffee maker and hope it will last 5 years or get a $40 one that does what you need for 5 years.

This is the maker that will do what you need. It makes about a cup of coffee each minute. The carafe is wide bottomed so it sits very well under the brew basket. I think it keeps the coffee hotter to because more of the carafe sits on the burner. I passed on round carafes because they seemed to wobble when they sat on the burner and people complained that those makers tended to leak during the brew cycle because the carafe was not properly aligned with the brew basket. You won’t have that problem with this maker. You do need to make sure that when you are filling the water reservoir you pour the water right into the hole. If you miss, and you will a few times, the water runs right to the burner area through a gap between the brew basket and the space where the basket sits. The brew basket fits snuggly and is easy to change and clean. I’ve had this maker for 6 months without any problems. I brew one 5 cup pot a day.

4 Stars for a cheap coffee maker it’s great
I paid [...] bucks for this machine at Target (it was on sale). I melted the cord of my old Mr. Coffee. My old coffee maker required that I microwave the coffee not long after I poured it. This machine makes coffee nice and HOT! Just that fact makes a much better cup of coffee! One could go and pay [...] bucks for some fancy machine but for the price this machine does the job! Also, I’ve never had a coffee maker that you could set to automatically brew and I have to say that feature made me very happy this morning when I woke up and had piping hot coffee awaiting me…

Maybe I’m used to having cheap coffee makers so whatever flaws people are talking about I haven’t noticed.

1 Star Smelly and loud coffee
This thing must be made of inferior plastic; the coffee it produces stinks and tastes of petroleum. My wife wouldn’t take a second sip.

What drove me crazy was the surprisingly loud clicking sound coming from the hot plate after brewing. My guess is that it is the switch controlling the heating mechanism, flipping on and off at irregular intervals to control the temperature of the coffee. It’s impossible to ignore once you are aware of it.

5 Stars Amazing espresso machine easy to use would recommend to anyone
I have to say I was skeptical about buying a super automatic machine and especially this one since it was one of the cheapest models. I bought this for my mom and it had to be as easy as possible to use for her. I love it and I found out that the inside machinery is basically the same as the models that cost 2-3 times more. I have been using it for 3 months now and have not had any problems at all it just takes a little bit of learning and trial and error don’t forget to read the manual there are many little things that you should know so the machine will work properly without problems. It really only takes about 1 minute for the machine to be ready in the morning from a cold start to make an espresso or boiling water for tea. The only thing that takes some time is to get the grind size and amount of coffee correct for the type of bean you have. You wouldn’t think so but Dunkin Donuts whole orig beans work great and taste amazing for espresso I even talked to Saeco customer support and they said it was a great bean for it since it wasn’t too oily. Dont think Twice about buying this machine it is amazing and will pay for itself in a couple months of not going to the coffee shop. I even like the fact that this machine isn’t complicated it is very simple to use. If you end up buying one of these try to get the solid black model since it isn’t painted it is solid black plastic so there is nothing to chip and when the coffee or milk splashes you don’t see the spots so it looks clean all the time unlike the silver models. Some people complain about the water and coffee capacity but unless you put this in an office you will be fine the water makes about 12-15 shots and coffee makes about 30 shots so you should be fine for a normal household. I also noticed that if you use bottled water you will have hardly any problems with the machine since most problems arise from calcium buildup from hard water and not to mention bottled water tastes so much better. I hardly ever write in depth reviews it’s just that I am so happy with this machine and it saves so much money. We are a family of 3 and we used to get 3 Coffee’s lattes etc. every day costing about $12-$15 daily and we had a instant boiling water dispenser in our kitchen sink that from what I found out costs about $30 a month to keep going since it is always on and now we turned that off and just use this machine for the boiling water for tea, cup a noodles, etc. as well.

I got one for Christmas and have been using it for 4 weeks now. It makes the best coffee with the added bonus of just a single cup at a time in about a minute. I retired my old coffee pot and have had to switch to decaf because it’s just too easy to have another cup. My oldest daughter started drinking a couple of cups of coffee a day and at least one latte. We’re switched to buying half-an-half in the half gallon size. All components are easy to use and cleanup. I don’t think we could live without one now.

Love this machine – makes perfect coffee easily and conveniently – like as if it’s from my local Peets (am using their great espresso beans). I did have a problem with my machine but it was quickly replaced by Aabree Coffee Company where i bought it from via Amazon. Now it is perfect. Didn’t give it 5 stars as the plastic outer casing of the machine could hae a better fit and finish (it is after all a SAECO). But it’s solid and I love it. This is a great machine – believe me I did a lot of research as I know my coffee!

4 Stars Delicious fast brew, but could be packaged better.
We bought this unit to replace a Saeco Vienna Black machine we had for 5 years. The brew group is the same quality as the Saeco Vienna (it appears to be indentical) In fact all internal components appear to be the same with just a new enclosure. Speaking of the enclosure; that is my only disaapointment with this machine. The fit is simply not as good as our earlier unit. It is molded white plastic and painted silver on all surfaces visible when closed. However, as soon as you pull out the ‘puck’ drawer or open the door to reveal the brewgroup you can see the white base plastic. Kind of cheesy. The Veinna Black was molded entirely of the finished color and was smooth and glossy. The silver paint is rather flat and rough. The joints and seams are sloppy and the gap varies from one side of the machine to the other.

Nonetheless, the machine works flawlessly and brews a delicious cup of espresso, americano or coffee with ease.

I gave this product review 4 stars because of the fit and finish (lack thereof), but the machine does what it is designed to do; brew a fast, fresh and wonderful hot drink right in your home!

5 Stars For a really good cup of coffee
I have read many of the negative review and have to say I am confused by them. I recently purchased the CoffeeDuck. It is great. Does exactly what it is supposed to do. Here is what I have found:

1. Lets be clear, the Senseo is not an expresso machine. Nothing can be done to make it create a true expresso. Now that said, the Senseo is capable of making a really good cup of coffee.

2, When using the Duck you must use expresso grind coffee. Anything coarser will may not yield satisfactory results. I use “danesi” decaffinated expresso coffee. Comes in a round tin much like the “Lily” coffee. It is a very fine grind.

3. I fill my Duck with a scoop which is precisely 29.6 cc of coffee. This is slightly more than two typical coffee single cup coffee measuring cups.

4. I use the top of the Duck as a tamp to flatten and tamp the coffee. I take care to make sure that there are no coffee grounds around the rim of the Duck, but this is not critical as long as one is not overly messy. I place the top onto the grounds then put the Duck into my Senseo.

5. I then use the 2 cup setting on my Senseo to brew the coffee. (Note: if I want to approximate expresso I use the single cup setting on my Senseo with slightly less coffee in the Duck.

The above procedure provides a really tasty, full bodied cup of coffee, consistently. The coffee also has the same foam topping as would be had using the Senseo pods.

All in all, I found this product to be excellent in doing that which it was intended to do when used properly and with the proper coffee grind. I highly recommend this product.

3 Stars high quality item, but makes weak coffee
I understand to get the strongest coffee, you use an espresso coffee, but the product states you can use any of your favorite coffees so that’s what I’m basing this review on. For the test, I used Dunkin Donuts Extra Bold coffee.

From the pictures, the coffee duck doesn’t look lengthy at all. Once you see it in person it’s a different story. The handle doesn’t need to be that long imo. It doesn’t get in the way, but it looks rather silly.

I filled the coffee duck to the top with Dunkin Donuts coffee and pressed the double cup button. It looked good coming out, but the taste wasn’t what I expected.

As far as cleaning goes, it’s rather messy. It can’t compare to dumping coffee pods.

For the price I paid for the Coffee Duck (sixteen dollars), it’s not worth it for me. Maybe it makes an excellent cup of tea? That will be my next test.

5 Stars IT WORKS
I had a senseo coffee machine for over a year. I hated it and never used it because all the pods I bought didn’t fit (although the websites say it would)or the the coffee was so weak it resembled yellow cat urine. I finally decided to get the coffee duck because I was tired of making a pot of coffee for one cup. When you buy the coffee duck, make sure you read the instructions and put only espresso ground coffee in it. If not, you’ll get weak yellow colored coffee. I use Caffe Kimbo gold medal or Lavazza espresso. When you fill the coffee duck, make sure you leave 4-5mm space on the top and even it out. No need to tamp it down. I prefer the European style stronger coffee, not the weak diner/pancake house type. I press the single cup and then fill the coffee duck again and press the single cup again. Use a knock box to keep all the coffee grounds from dripping all over the kitchen floor. I found that there’s no need to rinse the coffee duck inbetween making my serving of coffee. I just wipe clean the edges after knocking out as much wet espresso ground that I can. When I’m done, then I rinse and dry the coffee duck. Now I use this everyday. Now how do I get rid of all those coffee pods in my basement?….

The CoffeeDuck is exactly what I was looking for. I’m getting great results with just about any coffee I’ve tried. All are regular grind, no fancy expresso stuff. Definitely a money saver over buying expensive pods.

5 Stars Works as it Should!
Purchased a Senseo as a gift for my husband, who is a coffee lover, but who I also knew wouldn’t always be apt to purchase the pods to have on hand. I thought this would be great to go with it so that he could use it with whatever coffee he chooses, at the quality that he prefers, and at any time he wishes. I just hoped that it would work well for him – and sure enough he loves it! Almost never have any of the Senseo pods on hand – as predicted – so this has been used often and is a great value! (Especially compared to the price of pods.) Plus allows more variety when you can use coffee you prefer, which also gives different options to guests. Would definitely recommend.

5 Stars a little joy
I purchased a set of two of these for my hubby for christmas from another retailer. They are a little cheaper than amazon, but I will still leave a review here.

These are such a nice change from a standard coffee mug. They make my morning coffee seem a little more special, especially when I am able to fix both mine and his in our own different ways.

The cup is the perfect size. It’s not too big so it cools down to a drinkable for me temperature in a reasonable time. I also like the fact that unlike one of my ginormous mugs I’m not getting too much coffee at one time.

Yes there is the lack of a handle, but I generally drink coffee lukewarm so this does not become a problem. I’ve used these for hot chocolate and the like, and it just makes it feel like a special treat. I love the detail and still love the lip on the top and where the seam would be were it paper. These are among my top favorite coffee mugs.

5 Stars Hot coffee, hot hands…
Okay, the recurring complaint is true to this mug. The cup gets as hot as the contents inside and when the coffee is hot, the cup will scold. Here’s how you get past this problem. Don’t fill the cup to the brim. Save about a half-to-full inch of space and hold the cup there. It works very well for me and I walk-talk with my cup around the office most of the day.

This cup also features a great diameter for my hand so it doesn’t feel like it’s going to slip out of my hand anytime.

I do recommend you wash the cup immediately after opening. It’s got some odd rough stuff on the inside and out and you don’t want to drink that up. Probably factory residue. No biggie. It’s cheap, it’s good. Looks hip too.

4 Stars Really cool gift idea
This coffee cup is a faithful recreation of the famous New York City deli coffee cup, from the pattern and colors right down to the slightly off shape that sometimes comes with paper cups.

The detail is the neatest thing about this mug. It has a fold in the lip and a crease along the side where the pattern seems to finish its “wrap”. I’m not sure if it’s totally faithful to the actual height of the original paper cup, because it does seem much shorter than other paper cups.

It’s a good weight and is quite unusual, especially since it has no mug handle. And you can most certainly find it for a better price–Perpetual Kid has it for $10 and I’ve seen it for $12 at other places as well. Overall, it’s a fun gift idea and a cool idea in general.

4 Stars too hot to handle
I love the look of these cups but they do get very hot after coffee is poured into them so they are difficult to pick up barehanded until the coffee cools. Fortunately I have a one-cup coffee maker that does not brew exceptionally hot coffee, and these cups fit under it perfectly.

Zojirushi EC BD15 Fresh Brew Thermal Carafe Coffee Maker

Lots of folks dislike the burnt flavor that coffee gets when it sits in a glass pot over a heating element. To avoid this, coffee shops often brew right into large thermal pots to keep the coffee warm without it becoming overcooked. The Zojirushi Fresh Brew does that, too, but in home-sized batches. It looks great, too, with a glossy black body and stainless steel carafe and brew basket.

To brew, lift the lid and swing the water outlet spout to one side while the filter is being loaded; the spout will return to its proper position when the lid is closed. A small red ball in the water gauge makes it extra simple to read. And an electronic clock module also serves as a timer that will start the brewer at a specified time. The carafe’s lid is designed to be on during brewing, with a small cap to help keep the heat in after it’s ready. The Fresh Brew also has a pause-and-serve function that stops the flow for 30 seconds while a cup of coffee is served.

To clean the brewer unit, use a solution of white vinegar and water, following the instructions in the accompanying booklet. The unit is not immersible. 4 Stars Very good but not perfect
I previously use a Black & Decker thermal carafe coffee maker and was pleased with it. I especially liked the flavor of coffee that was not scorched by being kept warm by a warming plate. Like everything, it eventually had to be replaced. A thermal carafe was the #1 requirement, eventually choosing the Zojirushi EC-BD15. Although taller, the BD15 utilizes less counter space and is easier to use than the B&D. My only complaint is that the B&D brewed coffee was warmer and stayed warm longer than the BD15 brew. I am going to try preheating the thermal carafe, that might make a difference.

5 Stars Love it!
I am not one to usually submit a review, however, I feel inclined to do so for this purchase. Like others, I researched and researched before buying this coffee maker. I have had no problems with it so far and it has produced outstanding coffee. Also, the thermal carafe works amazingly well. I love iced coffee and put the whole carafe in the frig and 24 hours later, the coffee was just starting to turn cold. I couldn’t believe that after 6 or 8 hours in the frig, It was still steaming! Haven’t tried my gold tone filter in it yet, but it appears that it will fit once I remove the inner filter basket.

2 Stars Good but breaks
Well, this coffee maker was as good as billed but there are some flaws. First, it is very tall so plan on having the vertical space available. More importantly, however, was that it just plain stopped working. Assuming this was a bad wire or something simple (it is a very simple machine in concept – boils water is all) I took the thing apart to find the problem. All wires were fine, there was nothing apparently wrong with it. I kept the carafe and junked the rest. This must have been a manufacturing problem so I got a good 4 months out of the thing and returned to my trusty Capresso.

4 Stars Newest coffee pot
I purchased my new Zojirushi coffeemaker with a recommendation from a Consumer site. I had a thermal carafe coffeemaker for the last 10 years, and wouldn’t have anything else. When it started leaking, a bit, I started looking for a new one. It didn’t have the timer I wanted, so I purchased this new one. I love the ability to set it up the night before, and awaken to the wonderful smell of coffee. However, the correctly sized filters do not fit the basket without a little trimming, and the noise , especially at the end of the brewing cycle, is enough to wake up the whole house. Coffee is great, though!!!!! Probably won’t recommend it to anyone; but I’m not totally unhappy with it.

5 Stars The best coffee maker!
The Zojirushi coffee maker makes delicious coffee, because it never cooks the grounds or the coffee. The water isn’t 212 when it hits the ground coffee, and there is no hot plate to burn the coffee as it drips or sits. The insulated, stainless steel carafe keeps the brew nice and warm. The coffee is ready in ten minutes after you push the button. When it finishes I rush to twist the carafe top open to the pour position to let steam out and I leave it open, believing that steam also cooks the coffee. This coffee tastes better than using the Melitta method, because with the Melitta set up, I tend to let the water boil before pouring. Boiling water cooks the coffee. Be sure to use fresh, good smelling beans! I haven’t seen any negatives about this pot. Even the #4 filter isn’t a problem, I just wet it and push it down a little bit. I put the water arm over the grounds myself rather than letting the lid do it. This is THE POT!

5 Stars Great Tasting Hazelnut Coffee
Gloria Jean’s flavored coffee’s – especially the Hazelnut – are really good BUT you need to brew on the 7-8oz size. All of the K-Cups vary as to what size brew is best for them. It is not strong coffee, but brewed at the right size, it tastes really good and certainly does not taste weak. Everyone I have served it to has enjoyed it. It is not labeled as bold so I don’t think it is reasonable to give this coffee a poor review from people who only like strong coffee. This is a flavored “goodie.” Beats most of the flavored coffee’s I’ve tried to date.

5 Stars Much better then Green Mountain Extra Bold Hazlenut
Can’t say enough about this coffee. After slinging the glorified mud that GM passes off as Hazelnut Coffee (got the xtra bold variety b/c GM generally can’t make a 7oz cup w/ a regular K-cup – everything tastes like dishwater). Gloria Jeans actually makes a very tastey 7 oz cup of coffee, and the Hazelnut is no exception. I’ll not be sending my money up to Vermont anymore – Amazon and Gloria Jeans all the way !

this is a great all around coffee it has nice hazelnut flavor and is not a real strong coffee so its good any time of day this will always be something we have around I would suggest that if you have the different cup size try the middle size it might get to weak for you on the large setting

5 Stars Great coffee!
Coffee has a really nice aroma, great flavor, and makes a very satisfying cup of hazelnut coffee. Not too strong or too weak, even with a full 8 oz of water added. Actually, it’s the only flavor I’ve tried so far for the Gloria Jean’s coffees, but it’s one of my favorites. (Can’t wait to try the butter toffee flavor!) I just ordered the variety pack.

2 Stars Got wrong coffee!!!
I ordered Gloria Jean’s Hazelnut Coffee and was sent regular Gloria Jean’s coffee. It was quite a disappointment!!! I sure hope it doesn’t happen again, if I decide to take the chance.

1 Star Wake Up Should Be Re-titled Bedtime
This is the blandest, most decaf tasting coffee I’ve ever had from this otherwise good company. Try their Black Tiger for a strong morning pick-me-up. I’ve tried this one about 10 times now and the remaining 38 K-Cups are going in the trash. What a waste!

This has a strong but not bitter taste. If you like strong coffee this is one of the best I have found.

This coffee is delicious. My wife and I love the Gloria Jean Flavored coffees because they are smooth and mellow. If you like the spoon to stand up by itself in your coffee, this is not the brand for you.

3 Stars Just OK
These are very average K-cup flavors and roasts. I wasn’t impressed like like I was with Timothy’s, Emeril’s or Caribou coffee. Still good, but not a great cup of coffee you should expect out of a Keuring. My favs – Timothy’s German Chocolate and Caribou Coffee Reg Roast. That’s what’s nice about the variety pack, try it.. you may like it.

Our daughter bought this coffee maker. We had trouble with it from the start. It leaked water from the base and made a huge mess wherever we put it. She was so disappointed, and so were we.

5 Stars a “real” coffee maker for kids
My 6 year old & 3 year old LOVE this coffee maker. They like that it’s more than pretend, but that you can use water to “make the coffee” and watch it “brew”

The only downside is it can be messy!

5 Stars Birthday Gift for my 3 year old granddaughter
We gave the Let’s Pretend Coffee Maker to our granddaughter for her 3rd birthday. For Christmas we had given her the Let’s Pretend Mixer and Microwave. She has had a great deal of fun playing with all three. Her mom told me that our granddaughter had taken her coffee maker and cups and saucers to bed on her birthday night so that she could have a “cup of coffee” before going to sleep and another the first thing in the morning. I would say these Let’s Pretend kitchen items are a great success. Plus, I like the bright primary colors that they come in. Thank you.

5 Stars No bitter aftertaste
This coffee is great. We like bold coffee that actually has flavor and this is one of the best we’ve tried. No bitter aftertaste. We’ll be adding it to our autoship order.

5 Stars I love this coffee!!!
It’s bold and flavorful. I enjoy iced coffee year-round and this coffee stands up without tasting watered-down. Depending on the time of day, I also enjoy its decaf counterpart.

2 Stars Not BOLD!
This coffee was a disappointment. I love a good bold cup of coffee and this coffee does not fit the bill.

This is a decent cup of coffee, but I got it based on the majority of the reviews saying that it really isn’t that BOLD of a coffee. I do love a good expresso every now and then, but I was hoping for something I could drink daily. I cannot. Kinda sad I bought 2 boxes. The one thing I can say is that it does not have that nasty aftertaste that the Coffee People tiger bold did (my mom got me a whole box of those on sale and I can’t even drink a cup!) I would say Rainforest bold has no aftertaste. And I gladly finish the cup, but its not my first choice! I love timothys!

4 Stars Starbucks for 37 cents a cup
My son (he of almost drinking age)and I (alas, well over drinking age) consider this the best coffee available for the price. It is Starbucks quality for 37 cents a cup with an Amazon subscription (well OK a bit more if you add milk, cream, sugar or sweetner.)

It is robust, bold and all those other barista buzz words – and it has a great aroma (or what those of us from Brooklyn call “smell”). We just love it. Paired with bacon and eggs it is sheer heaven.

My wife and daughter consider coffee drinking a crime equal to waterboarding under Bush so we dont consult them.

5 Stars Finally, another good full-body K-cup!
I am writing this as I sip my first Newman’s K-cup, and it’s fantastic. OK, not the same as a fresh cup from my local Caribou Coffee, but it’s bold and dark, full of flavor, and not burnt tasting at all. I have found most of the K-cups I tried to produce dishwater, just not enough coffee in them to make a full-flavor cup. I have been drinking Timothy’s Midnight Magic Extra Bold, also very nice–just ran out, and picked up the Newman’s at Costco (no time for shipping). It’s a very worthy competitor, very very nice.

5 Stars Rich and Smooth
This is my favorite rich coffee. I prefer a dark coffee, but I don’t care for Italian or French roasts. This is very smooth and has none of the acidic bites that some coffees have. This is deep and dark and smooth and rich. Highly recommended.

5 Stars Really good cup of coffee
We are new to the Kuerig machine and love it. Still trying the many different varieties of coffee available. This one is a keeper for sure. Newmans Own Special Blend is a great strong cup, even at the largest cup setting. (9.25 OZ on our B60 machine)

No bitter taste, no after taste I’ve detected. Just a nice strong “wake-up call” for the morning.

I will always have some of this around.

4 Stars A Good Coffee
Having tried a number of the different coffees available for k-cups I am often disappointed, Newmans however does not disappoint. Its a good coffee. They are all priced usually pretty similiar but Newmans is clearly a better blend than many others. If your getting K-Cups and you want a good coffee, not a bunch of different flavors just good coffee, get Newmans Own.
